Job Description:

The Principal Data Scientist will be part of ACS’s corporate global lab supporting seven businesses, critically important to Honeywell product innovation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Honeywell internal business partners to define, design and develop intelligent algorithms to operate on massive data sets.
  • Leverage experience with machine learning and statistical programming to define, design, and build projects that leverage our data
  • Leverage tools, processes and procedures allowing an organization to create, manipulate, and manage very large data sets
  • Develop and document prototypes to simulate the behavior of a new technique

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or other relevant degree.
  • 5 or more years’ demonstrated data experience including applied techniques in data mining, machine learning, or graph mining.
  • 3 or more years’ experience working with large unfiltered data sets and distributed computing tools such as Amazon EC2, Apache Hadoop, Nutch, Mahout, Hive, and MapReduce.
  • Due to ITAR restrictions, US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident status is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Math, or Statistics.
  • Knowledge and experience of statistical analysis tools such as R.
  • Knowledge and experience in data modeling and database technologies.
  • Experience in methods to clean and tidy data.
  • Fluency in a programming or scripting language (e.g. Python, Ruby, Java) for fast prototyping and significant knowledge of core library and common design patterns.
  • Java skills and design experience, including significant knowledge of core libraries and common design patterns.
  • Experience with open source data processing frameworks.
