What will you do and learn as a Trainee Analytics?

  • Work in close collaboration with developers, business analysts, product owners and various business stakeholders to identify current and future business needs.
  • You will be responsible for using available data, conducting data analysis to support business decisions for future development and improvement of in various departments.
  • Learn that our priorities are driven by the needs of the business, individual research and data mining.

How will you be doing this?

  • You will rotate in different projects over the course of this program to get maximum exposure to all parts of our business to assist in your development. During the program, you will develop an in-depth understanding and knowledge of IT at, working on live projects and getting on and off-the job training. 
  • You will complete an intensive 12-month program based in our global headquarters in Amsterdam, supported by a network of colleagues, managers, mentor and our HR team.
  • You will learn how the different parts of our business interact. 
  • You will work in a small startup-like group which takes full ownership of its part of our platform, and you start contributing to our success from day one.
  • You will translate data requests in a PERL script or MySQL query.
  • You will collect and manage large data sets.
  • You will work on and improve performance metrics;
  • You will gather business requirements and translate them to system requirements;
  • You will have freedom over the tooling you use, but your colleagues will have a preference for Perl, Excel, R and Hadoop.

Job Requirements:

Desired Skills and Experience

  • You are enthusiastic to work in a large e-commerce environment. 
  • You have a passion for analytics and statistics.
  • You have a commercial attitude and interest in consumer behavior.
  • You are a self-starter capable of working on own initiative.
  • You are flexible, proactive, hands-on mentality.
  • Willingness to learn Perl language, MySQL and relational databases.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal). 
  • BSc, MSc or PhD in Math, Statistics, Computer Science or comparable.
